Ranked #1 on the industry benchmark, with open-source developer tools surpassing 1M+ downloads and the trust of Fortune 500 companies, Altimate AI is hiring a Research Intern to work directly with the founding team on hard problems at the intersection of LLMs, agents and the modern data stack. You will own a research question end-to-end — scope it, run rigorous experiments, and write it up. Strong work has a clear path to a public technical blog post, an open-source release or a research paper. You should be comfortable reading recent papers from NeurIPS, ICML, ACL or EMNLP and implementing ideas from them, and able to turn a fuzzy problem into a well-scoped experiment.

Skills you'll use

What you'll do

• Own a research question end-to-end: scope, experiment and write-up
• Run rigorous experiments at the intersection of LLMs, agents and the data stack
• Read recent papers (NeurIPS / ICML / ACL / EMNLP) and implement their ideas
• Turn fuzzy problems into well-scoped, measurable experiments
• Contribute to public technical blog posts, open-source releases or papers

Who can apply

• Hands-on with PyTorch and the Hugging Face ecosystem
• At least one prior project involving LLMs (fine-tuning, evals, agents or RAG)
• Comfortable reading and implementing ideas from recent ML papers
• Ability to take a fuzzy problem and return a well-scoped experiment
• Bonus: familiarity with dbt, SQL, the modern data stack, open-source or publications
