IELTS 8 Week Preparation Plan
Eight weeks is enough to prepare thoroughly if you study consistently. This week-by-week plan covers format, skills, practice and revision.
The 8-week schedule
| Weeks | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Learn the full format; take a diagnostic test to find your baseline |
| 2–3 | Listening & Reading — master every question type with daily practice |
| 4–5 | Writing Task 1 & Task 2 — structure, then two essays a week with feedback |
| 6 | Speaking — all three parts, daily spoken practice and recordings |
| 7 | Full timed mock tests; review every error and fix weak areas |
| 8 | Final mocks, vocabulary revision and exam-day preparation |
Daily routine (1.5–2 hours)
- 30 min targeted skill practice (the week’s focus).
- 30 min timed question practice with review.
- 20 min Speaking aloud or Writing.
- 20 min English listening/reading for exposure (podcasts, articles).
Book your test date at the start of week 1. A fixed deadline dramatically improves consistency and stops preparation drifting.

Is 2 months enough to prepare for IELTS?+
Yes. Eight weeks of consistent, targeted study — roughly 1.5–2 hours a day — is enough for most candidates to reach their target band, especially with feedback on Writing and Speaking.
Can I prepare for IELTS in 2 weeks?+
You can learn the format and sharpen exam technique in two weeks, but raising your actual English level takes longer. Two weeks suits candidates already close to their target band.
