SBI Clerk 2026 Notification — 1,538 Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) Vacancies

• Only SC, ST and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates are eligible — this is a backlog Special Recruitment Drive, so there are no UR/EWS vacancies.
• PwBD and Ex-Servicemen / Disabled Ex-Servicemen apply under their respective parent category (SC, ST or OBC). There is no horizontal PwBD reservation in this drive.
• You may apply for vacancies in ONE State/UT only, and you may appear for the test only ONCE under this recruitment project.
• There is no Inter-Circle or Inter-State transfer for Junior Associates recruited under this drive. Only Intra-State transfer between Delhi Circle and Lucknow Circle (Uttar Pradesh), and between Mumbai Metro Circle and Maharashtra Circle (Maharashtra), is permitted.
• Merit lists are drawn State-wise and category-wise; you will be posted in the State you applied for.
• Vacancies are provisional and may vary depending on the Bank’s actual requirement.
• A wait list of up to 50% of vacancies (State and category wise) is maintained for one year from the date of the final result, released quarterly against non-joining and resignation.

Upper Age Relaxation

• Cumulative age relaxation is NOT available, either under two of the above items or in combination with any other item.
• Candidates seeking age relaxation must submit copies of the necessary certificates at the time of joining.
• No change of category is permitted after the online application is registered.

Qualification — the fine print

• Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31.12.2026.
• Candidates in the final year / final semester of graduation MAY apply provisionally — but if provisionally selected they must produce proof of having passed on or before 31.12.2026.
• The date of passing is the date printed on the mark sheet / provisional certificate. Where results are posted on the University website, the date the result was posted (as certified by the University) is taken as the date of passing.
• Matriculate Ex-Servicemen who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education (or its Navy / Air Force equivalent) after not less than 15 years of service in the Armed Forces are also eligible. Such certificates must be dated on or before 31.12.2026.

• The fee / intimation charge is non-refundable and cannot be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
• Payment is online only — Debit Card, Credit Card or Internet Banking. Transaction charges, if any, are borne by the candidate.
• If the online transaction does not complete successfully, register again and repeat the payment.

PHASE IPreliminary Examination

• Sectional timing: Yes — each test has its own separate 20-minute window.
• Negative marking: 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
• No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for individual tests or in aggregate. Section-wise marks are not maintained.
• Approximately 10 times the number of vacancies in each category (subject to availability) are shortlisted for the Main Examination, in descending order of aggregate marks.
• Prelims marks are NOT added to the final merit list.

PHASE IIMain Examination

Note the asymmetry that trips people up: Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude has 50 questions but carries 60 marks — 1.2 marks per question. That is why the paper totals 190 questions for 200 marks.

• Sectional timing: Yes — each test has its own separate time window.
• Negative marking: 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
• Candidates must score a minimum aggregate percentage as decided by the Bank. No minimum marks are prescribed for individual subjects, and section-wise marks are not maintained.
• Only the aggregate Main Examination score decides provisional selection.
• Trained Apprentices of SBI receive 2.5% of the maximum marks (5 marks out of 200) as bonus marks added to the Mains aggregate — subject to an engagement start date on or after 01.01.2022, one year of completed branch experience on or before 27.08.2026, satisfactory conduct, and a joint National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by SBI-NSDC / BFSI-SSC.

PHASE IIILocal Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)

• Candidates who produce a Class 10 or Class 12 mark sheet / certificate evidencing that they studied the specified opted local language are EXEMPT from the LLPT.
• Everyone else who qualifies for selection must take the LLPT after provisional selection but before joining.
• Minimum qualifying marks are decided by the Bank for each individual test within the LLPT.
• Candidates not found proficient in the opted local language are disqualified and will not be offered appointment.
• The LLPT is held at a centre in the State applied for, decided by the Bank, at the candidate’s own expense.

Medium of Examination by State / UT

English Language is always tested in English. Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and General/Financial Awareness can be attempted in the languages listed for the state you applied to.

• Allowances vary with the place of posting, so in-hand pay at a non-metro centre is lower than the ≈ ₹46,000 quoted for Mumbai.
• Additional benefits: reimbursement of various perquisites, Provident Fund, pension under the New Pension Scheme (Defined Contribution Benefit), medical facilities and Leave-Fare Concession.

2. 2Click the online application link and complete the basic registration. A provisional registration number and password are generated and shown on screen — note them down.
3. 3Upload your photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression and handwritten declaration at the correct, clearly-labelled slots.
4. 4Capture and upload a LIVE photograph as well, using your webcam or by scanning the on-screen QR code with your phone.
5. 5Fill in personal, category, educational and communication details. Choose ONE State/UT and ONE local language for the LLPT.
6. 6Choose your examination centre and indicate whether you want free online Pre-Examination Training.
7. 7Save the form if you cannot finish in one go — the saved data can be re-opened and edited using the registration number and password, but only THREE times.
8. 8Verify every field carefully, then submit. No change or edit is allowed after final submission.
9. 9Pay the fee online (OBC — ₹750; SC/ST/PwBD/XS — nil) through the integrated payment gateway.
10. 10On successful payment an e-receipt and the completed application form are generated. Print and keep them — do NOT post the printout to SBI.

Photograph, Signature & Document Upload Specifications

• Carry one photo identity proof in ORIGINAL plus a self-attested photocopy — passport, Aadhaar, PAN card, driving licence, voter card, bank passbook with attested photograph, or an identity card issued by your school/college or a Gazetted Officer on official letterhead.
• Carry two additional photographs identical to the one pasted on the call letter. Candidates without the pasted photograph or the two spare photographs are not allowed to sit the exam.
• The Prelims call letter is NOT collected at the venue — it is stamped and authenticated by the centre staff and you must retain it, along with the stamped ID copy, to produce at the Main Examination.
• No hard copy of any call letter or the "Acquaint Yourself" booklet is sent by post — everything is downloaded from sbi.bank.in.
• Mobile phones, pagers, smart watches, calculators and any other communication device are banned inside the examination premises. Safekeeping is not provided.
• SBI may capture your thumb impression or IRIS digitally for biometric verification at various stages — do not apply mehandi, ink or any chemical to your hands.
• The Bank analyses response patterns across candidates; if answers appear to have been shared, candidature is cancelled.
• No request for a change of examination centre, date or session is entertained.
