Internship interviews are shorter and more structured than full-time interviews, but they test the same things: your attitude, ability to learn, and basic domain knowledge. Here are the 30 questions you must prepare.
HR Questions
1. Tell me about yourself. Keep this to 60-90 seconds. Structure: degree → relevant skills/projects → why you want this role.
2. Why do you want to intern at our company? Research the company. Mention something specific — a product, a recent news item, or their culture.
3. What are your strengths? Pick 2-3 genuine strengths relevant to the role. Give a brief example for each.
4. What is your biggest weakness? Be honest but strategic. Pick a real weakness and explain what you're doing to improve it.
5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Show ambition within the field they're hiring for. "I want to grow into a senior role in product/engineering/marketing."
Behavioral Questions
6. Tell me about a time you solved a difficult problem. Use the STAR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
7. Describe a group project where you disagreed with a teammate. Show maturity — you listened, communicated, and found a resolution.
8. Have you ever missed a deadline? How did you handle it? Be honest. Show accountability and what you learned.
Technical Questions (for Tech Roles)
9-15. Data structures, OOPs concepts, SQL basics, REST APIs, Git, your project stack.
Prepare 3-5 talking points about each project on your resume. You will be asked about them.
Questions to Ask the Interviewer
Always ask at least 2 questions:
- •"What does a typical day look like for an intern on this team?"
- •"What qualities make someone successful in this role?"
- •"What's the biggest challenge the team is working on right now?"
