How to Introduce Yourself in an Interview (Freshers) + Examples — 2026

June 11, 2026·6 min read

"Tell me about yourself" is the first question in almost every interview — and your answer sets the tone. Here's exactly how freshers should introduce themselves, with ready examples.

The Winning Structure (Present → Past → Future)

  • Present: Who you are now (degree, college, focus)
  • Past: Relevant skills, projects, internships or achievements
  • Future: Why you're excited about this role/company

Keep it to 45–60 seconds — concise, confident, relevant.

Example 1 — Software / Tech Fresher

"I'm Rahul, a final-year Computer Science student at XYZ College. I've built two full-stack projects using React and Node.js, including an expense tracker used by 200+ students, which sharpened my problem-solving and API skills. I'm excited about this software developer role because it lets me work on real products and grow with an engineering team."

Example 2 — Non-Tech / Business Fresher

"I'm Priya, a recent BBA graduate. During college I led our marketing club and ran social media campaigns that grew our following by 3x, which built my skills in content and analytics. I'm looking forward to this digital marketing role because I enjoy turning data into campaigns that actually convert."

Do's and Don'ts

  • Do tailor it to the job and mention 1–2 concrete achievements
  • Do practice out loud until it feels natural (not memorized)
  • Don't recite your entire resume or personal life story
  • Don't start with "I don't have much experience" — lead with strengths
