General / Freshers
Freshers, campus drives, entry-level roles
Overview
For freshers and campus placements, interviewers focus on attitude, learning ability, and communication over experience. Your projects, college activities, and internship experience are your strongest assets.
Before the Interview
- 1Research the company thoroughly: products, recent news, competitors, culture
- 2Prepare answers to the 10 most common HR questions — write them out
- 3Know your resume inside out — every word is a potential question
- 4Practice introducing yourself in 60–90 seconds: background, skills, goal
- 5Prepare 2-3 questions to ask the interviewer at the end
- 6Dress formally or in smart casuals as per company culture
- 7Carry 5 copies of your resume and all relevant documents
During the Interview
- 1Arrive 10-15 minutes early
- 2Greet the interviewer, make eye contact, smile naturally
- 3Listen fully before answering — don't interrupt
- 4Answer honestly; don't fabricate experience
- 5Show enthusiasm for learning and the role
- 6Use examples from projects or college activities to support your points
- 7End with a confident "Thank you for this opportunity"
Red Flags
- 1Don't badmouth your college or past employer
- 2Avoid over-negotiating salary in the first round
- 3Don't check your phone during the interview
- 4Avoid one-word answers — every response is a chance to demonstrate communication skill
- 5Don't lie about skills — a 5-minute technical test will expose it
