Software Engineering / Data Science Intern

About this internship

Mortgage servicing runs on legacy systems — and BSI Financial Services is changing that. As a Software Engineering / Data Science Intern, you will take a working proof-of-concept and push it to MVP, then toward an enterprise-grade product. This is a hands-on, build-first summer internship in Gurgaon where you will use AI-assisted "vibe coding" tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) aggressively, build with modern data stacks, and ship real features to production pipelines. You will engineer scalable, production-quality MVPs from product requirements or PM-built POCs, build user-facing web apps, dashboards and internal tools, and develop and optimise data pipelines, ETL processes and integrations on Databricks using dbt and PySpark. You will also build and refine AI agents to automate operational workflows, work closely with data engineers and analysts on data quality and pipeline reliability, gather rapid user feedback, and document architecture, APIs and data flows for handoff to full-time engineering.

Skills you'll use

What you'll do

• Engineer scalable, production-quality MVPs from requirements or a PM-built POC
• Build user-facing web apps, dashboards and internal tools with AI-assisted coding
• Develop and optimise data pipelines, ETL and integrations on Databricks (dbt, PySpark)
• Build and refine AI agents to automate complex operational workflows
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts on data quality and pipeline reliability
• Document technical architecture, APIs and data flows; join code reviews and agile ceremonies

Who can apply

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s in CS, Software Engineering, AI/ML or Data Science
• Strong Python skills with experience in SQL and data manipulation
• A demonstrated technical portfolio (GitHub, deployed projects, hackathons or OSS)
• Experience building and deploying something end-to-end — not just tutorials
• Fluency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) as part of your workflow
• Preferred: Databricks/PySpark/dbt, LLM apps or AI agents, React and cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP)
