About this internship

Red Hat India is looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join its engineering teams in Bengaluru and contribute to the open source technologies that power enterprises worldwide. As a Software Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with experienced mentors to design, develop, test and maintain software, adding new features, fixing bugs and improving the performance of Red Hat products such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and OpenShift. You will work with modern languages and tools, commonly including Python, Go (Golang), C, Java, containers, Kubernetes and Linux, while learning how large-scale, community-driven open source software is built collaboratively in the open. From Red Hat's Bengaluru office, you will participate in code reviews, version control workflows, automated testing and agile development, gaining authentic experience of professional software engineering and the upstream-first open source culture that defines Red Hat. The internship is part of Red Hat's Early Talent program, which accelerates career growth through structured training, exposure to leaders and connections with mentors and colleagues across the company. This role is ideal for students pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related fields who are passionate about coding, Linux, cloud-native technologies and open source.   • Collaborate with mentors to design, develop and maintain software

  • Learn and apply container, Kubernetes and Linux fundamentals

Who can apply

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in CS or related field
  • Proficiency in at least one language such as Python, Go, C or Java
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms and Linux basics
  • Familiarity with version control such as Git
  • Interest in open source, cloud-native and Kubernetes technologies
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
