Posting a job for free is easy. Getting relevant applicants from a free post takes a little more thought. The difference between a post that attracts five useful candidates and one that attracts a hundred irrelevant ones is almost always in how it is written and how quickly you respond. This guide covers both, and explains how free posting works on MyInternships.in.

Before you post: be clear on four things

  1. The role and level. Fresher, intern or experienced? Full-time, part-time or internship?
  2. The pay. A CTC range for jobs, a monthly stipend for internships.
  3. The location and work mode. Office address and city, remote or hybrid.
  4. The start date. Immediate, or a specific month.

If any of these is undecided, decide it first. Vague posts attract vague applicants. It also helps to agree internally who will review applications and who will interview, so the post is not live for a week with nobody checking it. For internships, confirm the duration and whether a pre-placement offer is possible; students weigh both when choosing between posts.

Write a title candidates actually search for

Use the job title people type into search, not an internal name. "Inside Sales Executive (Fresher), Pune" beats "Growth Associate". Include the level and city or "Remote" in the title if the posting form allows. Avoid all capitals, emojis and words like "urgent" or "immediate joiners" in every title; they make posts look alike and do not help.

A quick test: search for your own title as a candidate would. If the results are full of unrelated roles, your title is too generic; if there are none at all, it may be too unusual. Aim for the plain, common name of the role with one qualifier, such as the stack for developers ("React Developer (Fresher)") or the channel for marketers ("Social Media Marketing Intern").

State pay openly

Posts with a clear figure tend to draw candidates whose expectations match, and fewer people drop out after the interview. For jobs, give a CTC range in LPA or a monthly in-hand figure. For internships, give the monthly stipend. If there are incentives, say how they work. Not sure what to offer an intern? Use the stipend calculator or read intern stipend benchmarks by role.

On MyInternships.in, free posting is meant for paid roles. Unpaid or very low-stipend internships need a paid plan; the options are on the pricing page.

Describe the work and the must-have skills

Four to six lines on what the person will do in a normal week, and three to five genuine must-have skills, are enough. Put everything else under nice-to-have. For fresher roles, do not ask for years of experience; ask for evidence such as a project or internship. Our guide on writing a job description for freshers has a full structure, and the JD generator gives you a first draft to edit.

Add one or two screening questions

Screening questions filter faster than any resume. Keep them short and tied to the must-haves:

RoleUseful screening question
Sales fresherAre you comfortable with field visits within the city on a two-wheeler?
Content internShare a link to something you have written, such as a blog, college magazine or post.
Developer fresherShare a GitHub link or a project you built, and your role in it.
Data analyst fresherWhich tools have you used for analysis, and on what data?
Any in-office roleCan you work from our office location from the start date?

Avoid questions that ask for personal details you do not need at this stage, and keep it to one or two questions so good candidates are not put off. Also make sure the answer you want is not obvious from the question; "Are you hardworking?" filters nobody, while "Share a link to your work" filters immediately.

What free posting on MyInternships.in involves

  1. Create an employer account and add basic company details.
  2. Choose the posting type. Use post jobs free for fresher and entry-level jobs, or post an internship free for internships.
  3. Fill in the role details: title, pay, location, work mode, skills, description and screening questions.
  4. Submit for review. Posts are checked before going live, so give accurate company and role information.
  5. Review applications in your employer dashboard and shortlist.

Role-specific pages show what a good post looks like in each area, for example software developer, sales, digital marketing, data analyst and HR. For the wider picture, see free job posting, where to post jobs free and our overview of free job posting sites in India. If you are hiring in a particular city, pages such as posting jobs in Pune or posting jobs in Bengaluru add local context.

Respond quickly once applications arrive

Freshers apply to many roles at once. The employer who replies first often gets the candidate. Set aside a fixed slot each day while the post is live, shortlist against your must-haves, and send a short message to shortlisted candidates within a day or two. Our guide to screening fresher resumes has a quick scoring method. A short practical task and a single interview are usually enough for fresher roles; the interview question generator helps you prepare.

Once the role is filled, close the post promptly or mark it filled. Candidates who apply to roles that are no longer open lose trust in your company, and you save yourself from answering applications you cannot act on. If you hire for the same role regularly, keep your best-performing post as a template and reuse it with updated dates and pay. Over a few rounds you will learn which titles, pay levels and screening questions bring the strongest candidates for your business, and each new post will take minutes rather than an afternoon.

When a free post is not enough

If your role is niche, very urgent or high-volume, you may want more reach than a single post provides. Options include searching the resume database, with 45,000+ resumes on file, or telling us your requirement on Hire Talent. Compare what each option includes on the employer plans page. For a first-time hire, our small-business guide to hiring your first intern walks through the whole process.

Frequently asked questions

Can I post a job for free on MyInternships.in?

Yes, free posting is available for paid roles, both fresher jobs and internships. Unpaid or very low-stipend internships need a paid plan, which you can compare on the pricing page.

Why am I getting irrelevant applicants?

Usually because the title is vague, the pay is missing or the requirements are too broad. Use a searchable title, state pay clearly, list only real must-haves and add one or two screening questions.

How many screening questions should I add?

One or two is usually enough. Tie each question to a must-have skill or condition, such as location, a portfolio link or comfort with field work, so it filters without discouraging good candidates.

Is a job post reviewed before it goes live?

Yes, posts are checked before publishing, so give accurate company and role information to avoid delays.
