Free Job Posting Sites in India — What "Free" Actually Means

Free posting and free applications are different things. The difference is where most of the disappointment comes from.

Almost every hiring channel in India offers something described as free posting. The variation is in what happens next: some let you post but not see applicants, some cap visibility until you upgrade, some are free for a trial period, and some are genuinely free up to a usage limit. All four are advertised the same way.

The distinction worth checking before you spend an hour writing a posting is simple: can you read and respond to the applications you receive without paying? That single question separates the tiers more reliably than any feature list.

Disclosure:MyInternships.in is one of the options below. We have written what each model is built around rather than rating competitors, and the section headed “when we are the wrong choice” is there because a comparison without one is an advert. Nothing here claims anything about another platform’s pricing or performance that we could not stand behind.

Work out what you actually need

Free to post, or free to receive?

The important question. Posting costs the platform nothing; giving you the applicants is the product. Check what happens when the tenth application arrives.

Is it free or is it a trial?

A thirty-day trial is a discount, not a free tier. Both are fine — but plan differently, because a trial that expires mid-process is worse than paying from the start.

Is visibility throttled?

Some free postings are technically live and functionally invisible. The test is empirical: post a role and see whether applications actually arrive within a few days.

What happens at volume?

Free tiers exist to demonstrate value. Know the limit before you build a hiring plan on it, so the limit is a decision rather than a surprise mid-season.

The options

MyInternships.in

Built around
An India-focused job board for internships, fresher and entry-level roles. Free posting; employers pay only for volume beyond the free applications on a posting.
Best for
Internships and fresher roles at scale across Indian cities, including tier-2 and tier-3, where you want applications rather than a managed service.
Trade-off
It is a job board, not an ATS and not a campus-management platform. If you need requisition workflows, offer management or placement-cell coordination built in, you will be running those elsewhere.

General job boards

Built around
Large horizontal boards covering every role and seniority, monetised through paid postings and recruiter database access.
Best for
Experienced and mid-level hiring, where the database and the search tools carry most of the value.
Trade-off
Entry-level and internship postings compete for attention with the whole market, and the candidate pool skews towards people with work history — which is not who you are hiring.

Professional networks

Built around
A social graph first, with hiring products built on top of it. Reach is driven by network and by paid promotion.
Best for
Experienced hiring, employer brand, and roles where candidates already have a professional presence.
Trade-off
Students and freshers in India are unevenly represented on professional networks, and coverage thins considerably outside metros and well-known institutions.

Direct placement-cell relationships

Built around
No platform at all — a relationship with the placement officers at the institutions you hire from.
Best for
Any employer hiring repeatedly from a defined set of campuses. It is the cheapest channel that exists and it compounds year on year.
Trade-off
It does not scale past the campuses you can personally maintain relationships with, and it takes two or three cycles before it works well.

Competition and hackathon platforms

Built around
Built around contests, hackathons and case competitions, with hiring layered on top of the engagement they generate.
Best for
Employer branding on campus and identifying top performers in a competitive format, particularly for technical and management roles at well-known employers.
Trade-off
The competitive format selects for students who enter competitions, which is a specific and self-selected slice of any campus. It is a poor fit for volume hiring of ordinary roles.

When we are the wrong choice

  • You are hiring experienced or senior people — free or paid, this is an early-career platform.
  • You need an ATS, offer management or requisition workflows.
  • You want a managed shortlist rather than applications.
  • You want to post an unpaid internship. Those fill poorly here and we would rather say so than take the posting.

When we are a good fit

  • You want to post an internship or fresher job free and actually receive applications.
  • You want to test whether a channel works before committing budget.
  • You are hiring across Indian cities, including outside the metros.
  • You would rather pay for volume when you need it than for access to start.

Frequently asked

Where can I post a job for free in India?+

Several channels offer free posting, including MyInternships.in for internships and fresher roles. The question worth asking of each is not whether posting is free but whether receiving and responding to applications is — that is where free tiers actually differ.

Is free job posting actually free?+

It varies, and the variation is not usually disclosed prominently. Some tiers let you post but not contact applicants; some throttle visibility; some are time-limited trials. Check what happens when the tenth application arrives, before you write the posting.

What is included in free posting on MyInternships.in?+

You can post internships and fresher roles free and receive applications, with a free allowance per posting; payment applies only if you want more applications on that posting than the allowance covers. The point is that you can find out whether the channel works before spending anything.

Will a free posting get fewer applications than a paid one?+

On our platform the posting itself is not throttled — what varies application volume is the role, the city, whether you stated a stipend and whether the description says what the person would actually do. Those four factors move applications far more than any paid promotion.

How do I get more applications without paying?+

State the stipend or CTC as a number, describe the actual work before the requirements, cut the must-have list to five items, add an explicit "you do not need" line, and post before the season rather than during it. These consistently outperform paid promotion on an unclear posting.

Try it before you decide

Posting an internship or fresher role is free, so you can see what applications actually arrive for your role and your city before committing to any channel.
