Overview

What is the GRE exam?

The GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) is a globally recognised admissions test owned by ETS, accepted by thousands of graduate and business schools for Master’s (MS), PhD and even MBA programmes. It is the go-to test for Indian students applying to MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Management and the sciences, especially in the USA.

The current GRE General Test is shorter — under 2 hours — with three measures: Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning. It is section-adaptive: your performance in the first Verbal/Quant section shapes the difficulty of the second, and you can move freely within a section, skipping and revisiting questions.

A strong GRE score (typically 320+ out of 340, with a high Quant for STEM applicants) makes your profile competitive for top universities and funding. With targeted coaching in vocabulary, quant concepts and essay writing, most students can raise their score meaningfully in a few weeks.
