About Snapdeal

**Snapdeal — company profile** Snapdeal is an Indian e-commerce marketplace founded on 4 February 2010 by Kunal Bahl and Rohit Bansal. It began as a daily-deals and coupons business before pivoting to a full online marketplace, and today positions itself specifically in the value e-commerce segment - unbranded and affordably priced goods - a market co-founder Kunal Bahl has estimated to be roughly three times larger than the branded-goods market in India. The company's current CEO is Achint Setia. Snapdeal's marketplace model connects third-party sellers with buyers concentrated outside the largest metros: the company has said over 86% of its business comes from non-metro regions of India, which shapes its assortment, pricing and logistics choices. Snapdeal raised capital from an unusually broad investor set. SoftBank became its largest shareholder after investing about USD 647 million in October 2014, and other backers have included Alibaba Group, eBay, BlackRock and Temasek Holdings. At its peak in 2016 the company was valued at approximately USD 6.5 billion, making it one of India's most valuable startups of that era. It also built and later divested adjacent businesses, notably the payments company Freecharge and the e-commerce SaaS firm Unicommerce. A proposed merger with Flipkart fell through, after which Snapdeal executed a restructuring it branded 'Snapdeal 2.0', shedding non-core assets and refocusing on the core value marketplace. For FY23 Snapdeal reported revenue of about Rs 388 crore against operating losses of roughly Rs 282 crore. In December 2022 the company withdrew a planned USD 152 million IPO, citing unfavourable market conditions. Snapdeal's office is at M3M Urbana Business Park, Sector 67, Gurugram, Haryana. **Industry:** E-commerce / Value Retail Marketplace **Headquarters:** Gurugram, Haryana, India **Official website:** https://www.snapdeal.com **Why work here as a fresher** Snapdeal is the kind of company where early-career talent is given real scope rather than busywork. Interns and freshers are placed on live problems, paired with experienced mentors, and reviewed on the same quality bar as everyone else. That combination — real ownership plus real feedback — is what turns a first role into a genuine career head start. **Culture** Expect a fast-paced, outcome-oriented environment with flat communication, short feedback loops and a strong bias for action. Teams are small enough that your contribution is visible and large enough that you learn from people who have already solved the problem you are facing. Learning, curiosity and honest debate are valued over hierarchy. **Growth & hiring** Snapdeal hires internships across engineering, data, product, design, marketing, finance and operations, and a meaningful share of its early-career hires convert to full-time offers. All openings are published on the company's official careers page, and applications for this role are submitted directly to Snapdeal there — no middlemen, no aggregators.
