About Skyroot Aerospace

**Skyroot Aerospace — company profile** Skyroot Aerospace is an Indian private aerospace manufacturer and commercial launch service provider headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana. It was founded in 2018 by two former ISRO scientists, Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, starting with a team of ten people. Pawan Kumar Chandana grew up in Visakhapatnam and studied mechanical engineering at IIT Kharagpur. On 18 November 2022 Skyroot launched Vikram-S, a suborbital rocket, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota, making it the first private Indian space-tech company to launch a rocket. Its orbital-class vehicle Vikram-1 is designed to carry payloads of up to 350 kg to low Earth orbit; the fully assembled seven-storey rocket was reported on the coastal launch pad at Sriharikota with a launch window opening on 12 July and running through 4 August. In October 2023 Skyroot raised $27.5 million in a pre-Series C round led by Temasek Holdings, taking cumulative funding to about $95 million. In May 2026 Skyroot became India's first space-tech unicorn, raising $60 million at a valuation of about $1.1 billion, taking total funding to roughly $160 million; the equity round was co-led by Sherpalo Ventures and GIC with participation from funds managed by BlackRock, the founders of Greenko Group, Arkam Ventures, Playbook Partners, Shanghvi Family Office and others. The company's careers page describes a team of over 1,000 experts and lists Hyderabad-based engineering roles including Procurement Engineer (Avionics), Methods Engineer (Composites), Welding Engineer (Aerospace), Cryogenic Propulsion Test Engineer, Hardware Design Engineer (Avionics) and Valve Design Engineer. Skyroot runs the Kalpana Fellowship Program, a 12-month immersive programme for recent engineering graduates and final-year students across aerospace, aeronautical, mechanical, electronics, chemical and electrical engineering, offering rotation across departments with mentorship and hands-on project work; it is open to Indian nationals only. Applications are handled through Zoho Recruit. **Industry:** Spacetech / Aerospace Manufacturing **Headquarters:** Hyderabad, Telangana, India **Official website:** https://www.skyroot.in/ **Why work here as a fresher** Skyroot Aerospace is the kind of company where early-career talent is given real scope rather than busywork. Interns and freshers are placed on live problems, paired with experienced mentors, and reviewed on the same quality bar as everyone else. That combination — real ownership plus real feedback — is what turns a first role into a genuine career head start. **Culture** Expect a fast-paced, outcome-oriented environment with flat communication, short feedback loops and a strong bias for action. Teams are small enough that your contribution is visible and large enough that you learn from people who have already solved the problem you are facing. Learning, curiosity and honest debate are valued over hierarchy. **Growth & hiring** Skyroot Aerospace hires internships across engineering, data, product, design, marketing, finance and operations, and a meaningful share of its early-career hires convert to full-time offers. All openings are published on the company's official careers page, and applications for this role are submitted directly to Skyroot Aerospace there — no middlemen, no aggregators. Expert Tips

  • Practice LeetCode easy and medium problems before the OA — focus on arrays, strings, trees, and graphs.
  • For system design, use the RESHADED framework: Requirements, Estimation, Storage, High-level design, APIs, Detailed design, Evaluation.
  • Prepare 3–4 STAR stories covering: a challenge you solved, a time you worked in a team, a project you owned end-to-end.
  • After every coding solution, proactively state the time and space complexity — interviewers expect it.
  • Study common CS fundamentals: process vs thread, TCP vs UDP, REST vs GraphQL, SQL indexing, CAP theorem.
