About Paytm Payments Services

Paytm Payments Services is the arm of the Paytm group focused on payment acceptance and merchant services — the systems that let millions of Indian businesses take digital payments and reconcile them. That covers payment gateway infrastructure, merchant onboarding and risk, settlement and the compliance obligations that surround regulated payment operations in India. It is a business where reliability is not a preference: a payment failure is a lost sale for a merchant and a broken experience for a consumer, and the regulatory framework around payments in India is demanding. The organisation maintains operations in Pune alongside the wider Paytm group's centres, and runs its own hiring, HR operations and people functions to support a large and rapidly changing workforce. For an HR or people-operations intern, that produces unusually good learning conditions: high-volume recruitment, real onboarding and engagement processes, and exposure to how a regulated financial business manages compliance in its employment practices. Stipend for internships here is set as per company norms and disclosed during the process.

Expert Tips

  • Practice LeetCode easy and medium problems before the OA — focus on arrays, strings, trees, and graphs.
  • For system design, use the RESHADED framework: Requirements, Estimation, Storage, High-level design, APIs, Detailed design, Evaluation.
  • Prepare 3–4 STAR stories covering: a challenge you solved, a time you worked in a team, a project you owned end-to-end.
  • After every coding solution, proactively state the time and space complexity — interviewers expect it.
  • Study common CS fundamentals: process vs thread, TCP vs UDP, REST vs GraphQL, SQL indexing, CAP theorem.
